Chinese Cultural School-based Activities

Chinese Culture

Summary

From January 2 to 20, 2023, the school hosted a three-week Lunar New Year and Chinese Culture Week for all students. As part of the festivities, we created a simulated Lunar New Year market featuring various booths that highlighted different elements of Chinese culture, such as traditional Chinese toys, clothing exhibitions, food preparation, calligraphy, and paper cutting. Students had the opportunity to both appreciate and participate in these cultural activities.

In addition to the activities, regular lessons during this period centered around teaching children Lunar New Year customs. These included spring cleaning to symbolize renewal, arranging festive flowers for good luck, hanging spring couplets, exchanging New Year greetings, performing lion dances, and enjoying traditional Chinese music. Through these activities, children were able to explore and immerse themselves in the unique traditions and joyful atmosphere of this significant Chinese festival.
